DuncanEducation Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Technical University of Nova Scotia, 1977 Areas of Expertise Construction Management Representative Experience Mr. Duncan is a professional engineer with over twenty-five years experience in the design and construction of environmental and industrial projects, having been involved in all levels of project development from initial site assessment to remedial design through construction and start up. His strengths include design capabilities associated with process, mechanical and civil design, as well as, project implementation experience including critical path analysis of project schedules. Most recently, Mr. Duncan has assumed the lead position for business development in the firm he co-founded in 1998 while retaining oversight of projects involving in-situ treatment and/or groundwater treatment. Construction Management – ESSO Petroleum Canada, Mr. Duncan began his professional career as a project manager for Exxon Corporation’s affiliate Esso Petroleum Canada overseeing the design and construction of numerous projects in and around their Dartmouth, Nova Scotia refinery. Most notably, Mr. Duncan was responsible for the design and construction of twin storage tanks that are 250 feet in diameter and 54 feet high and remain two of the largest aboveground storage tanks in North America. Mr. Duncan also oversaw the design and construction of a 110 feet clear span bridge across an active four lane highway, using pre-stressed concrete beams. While at the Esso refinery Mr. Duncan was also responsible for process design and operation of the facility’s biological oxidation wastewater treatment facility. Environmental Assessment and Remediation, Irving Oil Facilities - VT, NH, ME, MA - Irving Oil Corporation, Bangor, ME: Mr. Duncan was the Senior Oversight for Environmental Assessment and Remediation of Irving Oil Corporation sites in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. Responsible for all technical and managerial oversight of sight investigations, remedial action planning and remedial implementation. Mr. Duncan has overall responsibility for all environmental aspects of these sites through initial assessment pre-purchase to implementation of any remedial actions. Also responsible for preparation of individual state reimbursement programs requests on behalf of the client. Underground Tank Replacement/Upgrade Boston, Massachusetts: Mr. Duncan was the Project Director overseeing the design and construction QA/QC for the replacement /upgrade of the City of Boston’s underground storage tanks. The project involves in excess of fifty sites and one hundred tanks requiring modifications to meet the 1998 underground storage tank regulations. Mr. Duncan also has overall responsible for the technical and managerial oversight of any environmental assessment or remediation arising from replacement of existing facilities. |
